Our Robotic Aluminum Welding System, established for a global shipyard based in Alabama, USA, manufacturing specialized aluminum boats for military and coast guard fleets, has been successfully commissioned. The fuel tanks of these vessels, operating under offshore conditions, must withstand high mechanical loads, vibration, and extreme temperature variations while ensuring zero leakage tolerance. In line with these critical requirements, the project was optimized for AL5086 aluminum alloy, known for its high strength and superior corrosion resistance. The system infrastructure includes:
- A robotic welding system with extended reach capability positioned on a Pillar Gantry structure
- TH-type robotic positioner with a 1000 kg payload capacity
- Integrated slider system providing full access to all sections of 2-meter-long tanks
- Offline programming infrastructure enabling optimized welding simulation and program management
- Customized process setups specifically developed for AL5086 aluminum material
- Customized fixtures and smart clamping systems designed for flexible part positioning
